As there was so much fear
during the first wave of the pandemic,
those who connected with Street
Pastors (after some of the restrictions
were lifted) were grateful to have
listening ears to share their anxieties
with.
Main achievements:
Lambeth School Pastors : (Pre and
post lockdown)
The aim of Lambeth School Pastors
(LSPs) is to encourage peace within
schools and the local community. Their
presence helps to reduce antisocial
behaviour but more importantly
provides the LSPs with the opportunity
**----- End of picture text -----**
to build relationships with the students and earn the right to speak positively into their lives. Such is the success that the LSPs are having with students that they have been invited back for the second year in a row to Elmgreen Academy to deliver talks to year 10’s studying RE, looking at faith groups and community work. The Coordinator is working on extending the school network of LSPs to include primary schools and work with those who have SEN and those on the verge of exclusion, as well as offering one to one and group mentoring sessions. **Street Pastors:** (Pre and post lockdown) The team members supported local charities CHIPS by being befrienders supporting families through their phoneline support programme and their local Food Bank feeding the local community. **Use of Zoom** (during lockdown) **:** The Zoom parent support group has been running since April 2020 in partnership with the with Awesome Autism Community Group. - The space was created to give parents a place to have some ‘Me Time’ and discuss adult issues with mindfulness. - It’s a non judgemental space for them to blow off steam and share their burdens and find solidarity and support from others who are in the same situation. - The Coordinator and up to two school pastors attend the group each week. - The main aim of the group is to Encourage, Empower and Educate. - It is an organic space which allows ideas and experiences to be shared.
