Aims of the organisation
The Charity's objective is to act as a resource provider within the area around Stoke on Trent for the
Methodi51 Church".

Brief financial Yevl•w of the year
Income trend5
Total circuit income was £340,540. 92% 01 the income was from assessment contributions from the
churches of the circuit, 5% were interest eafned and 3% other incomes. Assessment ¢ontribulions by
hurches were in limd wilh the Circuit's Budgeted income.
Expenditure trends
Total expenditure was £ 292,051. Stipends and other remuneration costs which forr￿ 6(M of
expeftdrtu￿ were covered through the assessments from churches. 27% of ihe expenditur¢ was the
circuil's conliibution and mc*lel trust levy paid lo the Stoke Chester DislFiCt, of which a signrf￿aTht part
is used lo fund the WO￿ ofthe whler Melhodlst Church. Other expendflure includes manse
maintenance running cost which had a s￿nifICant increase compared to the previous year. Bullding
Inspection Report cosl also increase stgnrfunlly a5 the in8Pertion ofthree church were made during
Ihe year.
Fund balances
The circurt's nel current assets on 31 Avgusl 2025, excluding designated funds, was £232,570. This
can cover over 4 months d foreseeable expenditure as per the ¢ircuf( reserve policy.
Fin•nclal Plans for 2025126
Circurt financial plans for the coming year have been prepared on the basis that there will be 2 full-
tnne ordained Staff, 1.5 lay pastors, and other paKI lay- workers wf(h the anlicipated c051 of living
$b'pend Ir￿rease8 combined. In addrtion. there was a budgetsd increase of 5% on district a$sè$$ment.
Structure, Govemance. and Management
The governing document for the Circuit is the Deed of Union119321 and the Methodist Church Acl
{19761. Detsiled governance arranoements are outlined wi(hir the Con5tilutional Practice and
Discipline of the Methodist Chur¢h by Order of the annual conference ICPDI.

Reserves Policy
The Rèserves Policy for the Circuit is to hold 8 minimum sum equivalent to 4 month5, average

The financial statements have been Prepared under the Charities Act 2011 in accordance with the

The Circuit Model Trust Fund has wide purpose5 defined in Standing Orders and is categorised as
unrèstricted. Restricted funds are held for 8 narrower Purpose. There are no Er￿tr￿ment fund5.

Tanglble fixed assets are capitslised if they can be Lt8ed for more than one year and c05t al least
£3LIJ. Cir¢utt's share for the acquisition of a laptop for administration duties for Circuit and Sw8n Bank
Church has therefore been recognised 8$ an office expenditure for the year. The freehold manses are
revalued at thèir estimated market value al the end ol the year. Nc* deprecialKJn has been calculated
on the land and building, as twstees consider any depreciation would not be material. The Pfoperties
have been reviewed lor impairment and trustees believe no Impairment has occurrèd. Impaiment of
the manses is recognised when there are reasons lo believe th81 their recover8ble amounts are less
than the carrying value. The recoverable amourrt is the higher of the fair value, less c05110 sell. and
the value in use ol the manses.
