There were around 5 volunteer Wofking partw on the Common over the

Conlradors were paid for br8ck8n cutting {£1134), for a day with

Alongside the grazing by 7 Exmoor ponies and a small flock of
commonerfs sheep the above management rnaintained th8 requirements
of the Higher Level Stewardship. The Common was the recipient of som•
slow worm$ transtocated from a nearby site where development was
taking place.
Regular surveys of butterflies and reptlles war8 undertak6n - wrth both
showing that target species ar• holding their own.
The Environmental Stewardship ag￿ernent ¢>Jntinues until March 2028.
Work has begun on a longer temi management plan with Consideration

Amenity Use
The Common is extensively used by locals for walking. During wet
weath8r this can create muddy condjtions on some well used paths. For
Ihis reason we have developed policies restricting cycling and horse
riding. We are also looking into some limiled path improvements lo
provide better access for l(Kal walkers.
Unfortunately some of the svJns installed at the 3 main ontrances (to
indicate ttlat cyding, horse rhjing, lohting fires and camping is generally
not permitted and encouraging adherence to the countryside code as
Tegards dog walking) have been removed. We are in contsct with the
neighbourhood police regarding this and other a￿tt5￿la1 tEhav>our.
Longer temi. we are planning to repEace the notKeboards at the
entrances.
We believe that in all our activities w8 have complied with the duty in
seCt￿n 4 of the 2()36 Act to have due regard to guidance on public
benefft ublished b the Chari
Commission.
