Friends of St Michael’s Church Beer Hackett

Annual General Meeting

February 20[th] 2021

Treasurer’s Report

1 Financial position as at 31[st] December 2021

A copy of the Income and Expenditure Account is attached. This summarises income and expenditure for the period 1st February 2019 to 31st December 2020. At 31[st] December 2020, Friends’ had a credit balance of £806.80 in its account at Lloyds Bank.

You will see that income during the period falls under three headings:

Expenditure for the period was minimal, totalling £41.20 although it should be noted that this excludes the cost of running Friends’ village website which was covered by a donation of £98.40 from a trustee. Expenditure also excludes the cost of lottery ticket printing, £39.54, which was also donated by a trustee.

As at the date of this report, Friends had no assets other than its cash balance and no liabilities.

The Income and Expenditure Account has been reviewed, free of charge, by an accountant.

2 Members’ Subscriptions

The Trustees propose that the minimum annual membership subscription should remain at a minimum of £10 per person although members are encouraged to pay an increased amount if they are able to do so.

On 31[st] December 2020, Friends had 26 members some of which pay their subscriptions annually or monthly by bank standing order. Standing order payments are welcomed as this simplifies administration.

3 Activities during the period

The Trustees had planned several activities in late 2019 and 2020. Principal of these was the Village Lottery. This was launched in November 2019 and had begun to gather momentum in early 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic struck. The Trustees decided to suspend lottery activities in February as several of the sales outlets were forced to close.

We plan to re-launch the lottery before the end of 2021.

The other major planned activity for 2020 was a midsummer music and arts festival. Planning was taken to an advanced stage but again, it was not possible to proceed due to the pandemic.

4 Website

The Trustees have decided to keep the website live. Although we have no activities to publicise at present, the website Message Board remains available for village use. For details please go to: https://www.friendsofstmichaelschurchbeerhackett.org/

5 Gift Aid

Finally, I can report that I’m in the final stages of obtaining HMRC approval for Gift Aid registration. I expect to get confirmation by the end of March. Once received, I will ask members to complete a Gift Aid form which will enable Friends to make a tax re-claim for in respect of subscriptions paid by members who are taxpayers.

Signed
