Championing civic and community life in Peasedown St John
Annual Financial Statement – 31[st] August 2024
The Peasedown Community Trust was established to champion civic and community life in Peasedown St John.
We believe passionately in making a difference and work with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
We run several volunteer-led projects in the village:
-
Peasedown Community Library – in partnership with B&NES Council, we run the village’s library service. Over 20 volunteers help manage a wide range of library services.
-
Peasedown Community Orchard – in partnership with Curo, we run the village’s community orchard. It’s a place where villagers can go to relax, unwind, and volunteer in a range of initiatives.
-
Dementia Friendly Peasedown – dementia affects everyone! Our team of trained Dementia Champions are raising awareness of the condition across the village and helping to create a dementia-friendly community we can all be proud of!
-
Party in the Park – in July 2022, the former management committee was disbanded with the organisation and management of the festival being handed over to the Peasedown Community Trust. As the village’s biggest annual event, the festival sees around 3,000 people attending – with a vast array of stalls and attractions and over 7 hours of live music and entertainment.
Over the last 12 months we have also taken the lead on other initiatives for the benefit of people living the community. These have included:
-
Working with the local Police to support the ‘mini-police’ initiative in the village
-
Coordinating the village’s Remembrance/Armistice display
-
Running the PSJ Community Civic Award
-
Providing financial support for ‘green’ initiatives such as planting projects, and funding for pre-school play schemes
Here is our financial statement for the 12-month period – ending 31[st] August 2023:
INCOME:
Grants - £1,700 Donations - £2,325.37 Fundraising – £2,615.11 Sponsorship - £2,600
TOTAL = £9,240.48
EXPENDITURE:
Library (Rent, Equipment, Insurance, Sundries, Volunteer Expenses) - £1,707.86 Party in the Park - £7,077
Remembrance 2023 - £177.70 Dementia Awareness Conference - £380.40 Grants to organisations - £278
TOTAL = £9,620.96
The charity’s recorded income was £380.48 less than our expenditure for 1[st] September 2023 – 31[st] August 2024 due to these reasons:
-
The timing of when items are purchased. Eg, the lamppost poppies for Remembrance 2023 and Remembrance 2024 were both purchased during the same financial year
-
Part of the Unallocated Fund was used to cover expenditure on volunteer training events and other sundries like flowers/gifts/miscellaneous for volunteers.
-
The Winter Support Fund has reduced from £500 (2023 Charity Return) to £350 this year due to grants given to the mini-police and SJs Little Ones.
