Para 1.20

**The charity has planted over 4000 trees over the twelve-month period, concentrated during the planting season of the British winter months. Some experimentation on planting methods to try to boost whip survival has been done with the use of mycorrhizal additives during planting.**

**The charity has made more emphasis on maintenance of existing sites this summer, with a number of working parties to weed and mulch trees throughout previously planted sites.**

**Support has been given to a particular style of planting called Miyawaki, which creates fast growth, in small densely planted sites, known as “urban forests”. These require additional preparation and maintenance and sites have been supported at the Whitehouse Farm Green Space and Wilmorton Recreation Ground.**

**The charity has also continued the 2023 activities of co-ordinating and distributing trees to residents as part of the Our City Our River scheme.**

**Future planting for the next season has been planned for more trees in public spaces (number tbc), in addition further Miyakawi sites are being planned. Sites for planting are mainly council owned although the charity remains interested in planting on private land should the opportunities arise.**

**Relationships have been maintained with external bodies including Derby City Council, Derby Green spaces, Friends of Derby Parks, and faith groups inc Derby Cathedral.**
