Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The charity has taken in and treated 105
animals during the period. Some of these
were treated and released by trustees and
some were taken to specialist carers who
treated and arranged rerelease of them. 35
were examined by a qualified veterinarian
and where treated where needed. 45 were
euthanised by a vet as they were not in a
condition to be treated and released.
Requests for advice and assistance was
mainly received by phone and
approximately 250 people have been
advised what they should do including
contacting specialist care organisations or
to be examined by a vet.
We have attended several events such as
fairs, festivals, local events, talks to
schools, WI, gardening clubs, church
events etc.
We have added to our list of carers in
Cornwall, so our networking activities have
grown.
A new site has been found in which to
house the aviaries and rehabilitation pens,
and this site will allow for phase one of the
hospital to be started. The building of the
aviaries has started, and we expect to
move in sometime in May. The site has
also been earmarked to allow the erection
of further pens and the start of the hospital
ready for our future expansion.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The charity is strong enough to continue to
provide care to the animals that come into
us.
We have started to spend our accumulated
monies on the new site, with aviaries being
erected at this time.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 N/A
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 N/A
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 The charity does not have a reserves policy
at this stage because the trustees consider
that we have not yet raised sufficient funds
to withdraw sums from the amounts
needed to maintain the charity and deal
with care of animals referred to us and to
start work on building the hospital.
However, the trustees will continue to
consider this as funding grows.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/A
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 We are now in a situation where we need
to replenish the monies that have been
spent so far on the building of the aviaries
so that once they are complete we can
expand our rehabilitation pens and then
look forward to starting the hospital
building.
