In planning our aclivrties for the year, we have complied wrth the Charity
Commission's guidan￿ in Section 4 of The Charities Ad 2006 with
regards to publiG benefft at our Trustee meetings. Our main activrties are
as follows:
Providing resour￿. support and infomation for individuals with
auts'stt¢ spectrum disorder and their parentslcarers.
Providing the opFw)rtunrty for parentslcarérs to meet in order to
develop a muiual support network and enable sharing of skills.

and in relation to their social exclusion through fundraising and

Providing small grants lo local individualslschools to provide

The focus of our adivities thig year has been to support parenU¢arers
through our support groups, 1..1 support with an Autism Specialist.

A great contribution is made by our trustees who have spent many hours
supporting families in the area.
Wrthout this time. we would not be able to achieve ary of our goals for

Any surplus funds which are not likely to be needed are held for future

individualslschools that are eligible to receÉve grants from SHINE.
The charty does not invest any of its money.

Achievements and performance
Summary of the main
achievements of the Gharity
during the year
April 25- Jemma Swales ran a 'Puberty' training course for
parenUGarers and individuals (Gosts £200).
Parent meetings started bad( up Jemma Swales 1.1 parent day
sessions began this month.
We agreed that we V￿11 add more funding to Stepping Stones agreed
amount so that they can run some training for staff.
Donation received for £75 from Mike Bullock.
May 26- Keswick to Barrow and Coniston to Barrow walks took place.
We had many walkers in both walks (t-shirt costs y￿re £273.77 and
£7.20) and supplies were {£40.36). Keswick to Barrow raised £2,200.
Jemm8 Swales po￿nt 1.1 day sessions continued.
June 25- SHINE gave a £1,000 donation to Youthability to their Black
Combe walk with children with dtffering abilities. We also donated snacks
on the day (£26.65).

July 25- SHINE gave a talk aboul our thaiity to Boot￿ Wl, who gave us

We agreed to look at grants for Millom Library arNJ Schools 'Sensory
Spaces,.

Sellafield Ltd have decided to donate £650 to SHINE, which will b8
arranged later in the year.
Dacembor 25- We added a SHINE for Autism Christmas Tree in the
local Chnstmas Tree Festtval to raise awareness of our group.

Achievements and performance
January 26 - We have again entered j(Jint teams into th8 Keswick to
Barrow this year with Autus.
February 26- Parent support group.
March 26- Parent support group.
User Feedback - In the financial year 202&2026 we haven't received
any complaints. We have received lots of verbal compliments with
regards to the training courses that were run and many comments to join
further training. People are very keen to see the Pamper Night fundraiser
r8tum next year.

Financial review
Brief statement of the
charity's policy on reserves
We hold cash at the bank of £14.648.93. there are Gurrently no restricted
fvnds (alihough we have £155 and £400 set aside for future grants and
training). We are awaiting some grant requests which total £2,850, which
11 be paid out earty next financial year. We are also awaiting a donation
from Sellafield Ltd for £650 These funds are held for future activities and
training. We aim lo hold £1.000, but no more than £15,000 in reserve at
year end. However, rt is not necessary to have any reserves as we only
use mone
that Is available in our account.

We rely on the IOCAI communty for their continued support for both of

Future Plans
This coming year will see an emphasis on supporting autism acceptan￿ in our community by promoting
understanding through the PodGasts which will involve as many aubstic individuals a5 possible, this has
been an ongoing process which will hopefully be produced in 2026. We hope to reach a vast amount of
local people this way and we hope it will also b8 accessible to communtlies further afield. We will continue
to support parenV￿rerS through workshops, support groups arKI 1'.18essions. We will also be running
more training to support parenvcarers and auh'stic individuals.
We will be looking into various funding r<)utes a￿1 fundraising nigms (rf govemment guidelines allow for this).
