## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

Hijaz Welfare Trust is a family-run charity governed by its constitution and managed by the trustees, all of whom are family members. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document and serve voluntarily without remuneration. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The objects of the charity are: 

- Relief of poverty and hardship. 

- Advancement of education. 

- Provision of humanitarian assistance in the UK and internationally. 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

During the financial year, the charity supported the following projects: 

1. Syria – Housing Project: £1,900 donated to Jigsaw Charity for a housing project to provide safe shelter. 

2. Pakistan – Food Pack Distribution: £25 donated to Al Khair Foundation for food packs. 

3. Pakistan – Food Pack Distribution: £150 donated to Al Khair Foundation for additional food packs. 

## **Financial Review** 

Total donations received during the year: £3,150.00 

Opening balance (1 April 2023): £2,396.98 

Total expenditure: £2,075.00 

Closing balance (31 March 2024): £3,471.98 



## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees aim to maintain reserves sufficient to cover at least six months of planned charitable expenditure. 

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

- Continue to support humanitarian projects abroad. 

- Increase UK-based assistance for families in hardship. 

- Build stronger partnerships with other charities to reach more beneficiaries. 

## **Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for: 

- Ensuring proper accounting records are maintained. 

- Preparing the annual report and accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. 

- Safeguarding the assets of the charity and ensuring they are used only for lawful purposes.
