## **2. Structure, Governance and Management** 

Hijaz Welfare Trust is a family-run charitable organisation based in the United Kingdom. It is governed by a constitution with day-to-day management overseen by the trustees. 

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document. All are volunteers and receive no remuneration for their work. 

## **3. Objectives and Activities** 

The charity’s objects are: 

- The relief of poverty. 

- The advancement of living for the needy. 

- The provision of humanitarian assistance in crisis situations. 

Public benefit: The trustees have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. 

## **4. Achievements and Performance** 

During 2021\2022, the charity supported projects in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Yemen: 

1. **Bangladesh – Food Relief** 

   - £350 donated to _Ibn Mousa Foundation_ to distribute food packs to families in need. 

2. **Pakistan – Family Support** 

   - £382 given as _zakat_ to a family to help cover essential living expenses. 

3. **Yemen – Housing Project** 

   - £2,026.20 donated to _One Nation_ towards the construction of a house for a displaced family.

## **6. Reserves Policy** 

The trustees aim to retain sufficient reserves to cover at least six months’ anticipated project costs. As at year end, reserves stood at **£5171.31** providing security for future operations. 

## **7. Plans for Future Periods** 

- In 2022/2023, the charity plans to: 

   - Continue providing direct aid to families in crisis. 

   - Help people with food packs and housing in areas of crisis 

   - Partner with reputable Charities to ensure funds are spent effectively. 

## **8. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for: 

- Ensuring proper accounting records are kept. 

- Preparing an annual report and accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
