Bro Arwystli Easter Vestry 22[nd] April 2024 Chair’s Report
2023
During last year services continued with a regular pattern of worship. Our services included Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maunday Thursday, Holy Saturday, Easter Day, harvests, Remembrance, services of light, sung eucharist, crib and carol services.
Ecumenical worship continued in Caersws, Llanwnog, Llandinam and Llanidloes, and we also joined together for Lent lunches and for lent courses, fundraising for Christian Aid, messy churches, Open the Book, community carol services, hand made bells which were given away at Christmas time
My grateful thanks go our retired clerics who help to lead services in the area, and also our licensed readers and preacher.
There were a number of Baptisms, weddings and funerals throughout the year, and my thanks go the wardens / vergers who come along on those occasions to give their help and support, especially when the services are not on Sunday mornings.
Mission -
We continued with our thought for the day on both Facebook and Youtube – my thanks go to all of the contributors. It really is amazing at the comments we receive both online and in person, it is a ministry which gives many people comfort and hope.
Rock Solid continues and is now based in Llanidloes Church Hall, it happens once a month and has a number of people who attend is regularly, who do not attend other services.
Work with children and young people continued with two after school clubs and a youth club, headed by Julia and Debbie. With Messy Churches being held in Llanidloes, Trefeglwys and Caersws.
Many of the local Primary Schools have visited a number of the churches, namely Llanidloes, Llandinam, Trefeglwys, Carno and Llanwnog, where they either attended services, came for a visit or for an afternoon of activities.
In September, Archbishop Andy joined us for a united service in Llanidloes.
Fund-raising included coffee mornings, beetle drives and quiz nights, concerts, stalls at village shows, history talks and the selling of bacon baps!
Carno church was finally able to hold a weekend dedicated to Laura Ashley.
My grateful thanks go to everyone for helping to look after our church buildings and graveyards, especially the wardens, and for giving such a warm welcome to everyone who attends services in our area.
I am also most grateful to our retired clerics, without whom we would not be able to hold the numbers and types of services that we do in this area, we are truly blessed by them all.
I also thank our treasurers for the work that they do, sadly last year we mourned the death of Stuart Marvin.
My last thanks, though not the least, go the ministry team, who continue to plan and discuss all manner of things to do with the ministry of God in this area.
Of course, I mustn’t forget that we welcomed Rev Steve into the area as Associate Priest, along with his wife Debbie.
I pray that we are all able to continue with our fund-raising, our fellowship and spreading the good news of Jesus in different ways. Long may it continue.
