During the reporting year the following initiatives have helped preserve and protect the good health of our members:

   1. We were successful in obtaining a grant of £1,500 from the company Viridor which enabled us to purchase new tools and equipment, including a thicknesser, PAT Tester, and various tools and fixings.

   2. Following a decision to open our workshop for an extra day each week, five applicants from our waiting list joined the Den. Our current membership now stands at 22.

## Section D

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

## Achievements and performance

Our participation in the local raft raised resulted in us raising £558 sponsorship money for Cardiff City Hospice and being awarded the runners up cup for the second year in succession.

We were awarded a grant of £1,500 from the company Viridor under their Project Green Funding scheme. The money is being spent on new tools and equipment for our workshop.

We have decided to open our workshop on Wednesdays as well as Thursdays which enabled us to take on five new members who now benefit from the friendship and camaraderie the Den has to offer.

Seven members of the Den successfully completed a first aid course for which they were awarded ‘First Aid at Work’ certificates. This will be of great benefit to the Den if, in the event, there is an accident in our workshop.

At the recommendation of the UK Men’s Shed Association, we have prepared and adopted a formal ‘Safeguarding Policy’ which should help ensure members are protected against abuse and neglect.
