|The appointment<br>ofa new Trustee and her work on the quarterly||
|newsletter<br>has raised the proSe of Kumi Community<br>Foundation,||
|especially<br>in terms ofraising funds through<br>our Gift Card Scheme.<br>In the||
|Spring 2021 newsletter we were able to report sales of cards enabling|us|
|to purchase<br>and distribute 232 adult chickens, 48 adult goats, 13||
|prostheses<br>and 11wheelchairs.<br>In keeping<br>with our motto of 'helping<br>others to help themselves,<br>' goats and chickens represent<br>not only||
|nutritional<br>support but also the opportunity<br>to generate income.<br>The aids||
|to mobility enhance<br>dignity, health, and opportunity<br>for their recipients.||
|Although<br>the achievement<br>ofmore than 40operations foryoung people||
|with gluteal fibrosis will be reported<br>in our next Annual<br>Return, the||
|funding<br>ofmore than R6,000was raised by the 'virtual<br>walk to Kumi'||
|during<br>this period.||
|As noted<br>in Section C point 6, our Ugandan<br>volunteers<br>have remained|in|
|constant contact with Trustees and, within restrictions<br>imposed<br>by the||
|pandemic,<br>have been able to continue to support existing cl!ents and||
|identify new children<br>and families who are affected by poverty and||
|disability.<br>At any one time, around 5children are supported<br>by Kumi||
|Community<br>Foundation<br>in the Nutrition<br>Unit of Kumi Hospital.<br>Cerebral||
|palsy chairs have been made for our clients by the workshop at Kumi||
|Hospital,<br>with the charity funding the materials<br>and labour, which<br>in turn||
|supports the work of Kumi Hospital.<br>Prostheses,<br>tricydes, and||
|wheelchairs<br>have been supplied.||
|Thanks to our trusted<br>Ugandan<br>volunteers<br>and their excellent local||
|knowledge,<br>Kumi Community<br>Foundation<br>can respond<br>quickly to needs||
|as they arise and were pleased to be able to provide basic foodstuffs||
|such as posho, beans„rice, sugar and salt as weII as soap to famihes||
|affected by Covid-19 restrictions<br>and crop failure as families affected by||
|disability are already struggling<br>to survive and recent times have been||
|even harder for them.<br>Similarly,<br>when<br>Kumi Hospital appealed io its||
|partners<br>to help in their efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 and||
|provide eflective treatment<br>for sufferers,<br>Kurni Community<br>Foundation||
|were able to respond<br>in a timely fashion.||
