Welcome to our Trustee Annual Report for 2023/2024.
During 2023/2024 the League has continued to support the patients of Penrith Hospital and the Community. We have held meetings and have obtained approval from Trustees for Grants and expenditure.
I would like to thank all the Trustees and Associates of the League for their continued support.
Although we have not held any fundraising events this year we have continued to receive donations from grateful patients and relatives. A Bingo night to raise funds on behalf of the League was held in December raising £750 and a grant of £1000 was donated by the Charity Benefact Group. Age Concern Appleby also gave us a generous donation of £2500. Total income for the year amounted to a fantastic £9910.
Once again the League provided Christmas gifts for the patients on Eden Unit which were very much appreciated. We also bought new Christmas decorations which helped to make the Hospital bright and festive for Christmas.
We purchased a Mirror Box for the Stroke Team to help with rehabilitation costing £85.
Exercise equipment for the Early Supported Stroke Discharge Team was purchased costing £250.
24 new District Nurses benefitted from bags to carry their equipment when visiting patients at home costing £720.
Physiotherapy patients benefitted from a Megamat which helps with balance and 6 new Patella Hammers costing £380.
Eden Unit requested another “Sara Stedy” Aid for use on the ward costing £960 and this has proved invaluable to both patients and staff.
We have also funded a Doppler and Probe for Podiatry at a cost of £1133.
The League continues to support the garden projects at the Hospital. The League’s total expenditure for the year amounted to £5785.
I have continued to serve as NCIC Trust Partner Governor on behalf of the League of Friends for the Community Hospitals, and have attended the Trusts Governors Meetings – these meetings are informative, and I am able to keep Penrith League of Friends Trustees up to date with developments and changes within the Trust.
Finally I would like to thank all the teams at Penrith Hospital and in the Community who work so hard to keep everyone safe and well. The League looks forward to supporting them again in 2024/2025.
