Penrith Community Hospital League of Friends

Trustee Annual Report

Charity No 1184871

Welcome to our Annual Report for 2021 / 2022.

Another year has gone by in which we have continued to support the patients of Penrith Hospital and in the Community.

During the year we have sent regular Newsletters to the Trustees and Associate members keeping them up to date and obtaining their approval for Grants and Expenditure, and the donations which we have continued to receive.

We held our first “face to face” meeting in May 2022 and it was good to see all our members.

Although we were unable to hold any fundraising events this year, our total income from donations and bequests for the year was just over £9000 and we have been able to fund requests totalling over £10,000.

The main items provided were a new Treadmill for the Physiotherapy Department costing £4000, and a Portable Bladder Scanner for the ICC Team costing £4500.

We also funded Planters and Plants for the 3 Hospital gardens which have required a lot of work to bring them back to their former glory after COVID and add to outdoor facilities to the Ward refurbishment.

Eden Unit at Penrith Hospital reopened in August 2022 after a major refurbishment costing £1.2 million. The ward looks bright and modern with all new facilities and will serve Penrith and the Eden Valley well for many years. League of Friends will be helping to complete the refurbishment during the next year by purchasing new patient chairs and other finishing touches.

In April this year I was appointed to serve as a NCIC Trust Partner Governor on behalf of all the League of Friends in the Community Hospitals. This is a vital link between the Trust and the public who use NHS services.

The League hopes to have regular “face to face” meetings again this year, and continue to promote our wonderful Teams in the Hospital and the Community who continue to work so hard to keep us safe and well.
