## **Penrith Community Hospital League of Friends**

## **Trustee Annual Report Charity No 1184871**

Welcome to our Annual Report for 2020 / 2021.

My first year as Chairman has been a very different one, as we have not been able to meet in person and been unable to hold any fundraising events because of COVID. Despite this we have continued to support the patients of Penrith Hospital and in the Community.

During the year we have sent regular Newsletters to the Trustees and Associate members keeping them up to date and obtaining their approval for Grants and Expenditure, and the donations which we have continued to receive.

Sadly, we lost another longstanding member of the League this year. Margaret Argile was a member for many years and was Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. She will be greatly missed.

Last Christmas, although we were not able to hold our Carol Singing we were able to provide Christmas presents and treats for all the patients on Eden Unit which were greatly appreciated.

Our total income from donations and bequests for the year was just over £3000 and we have had a high level of requests again this year - the total for all grants was over £26000.

We also provided a grant for Garden Bistro sets and Bird feeders for the patio area adjacent to the Day Room of Eden Unit. This created a pleasant and safe area during the summer when visiting recommenced for patients from the ward.

We continued to support the work of the COVID Hub at the Hospital as the staff from local surgeries delivered over 42000 COVID jabs – what a wonderful achievement !

Finally, I would like to thank everyone concerned with the League and to our wonderful teams in the Hospital and in the Community who continue to work so hard to keep us safe and well.
