## **TRUSTEES REPORT**

## **1[ST] APRIL 2024 - 31[ST] MARCH 2025**

## **Membership**

Thanks to a well-attended open day on Saturday 4[th] May the club enjoyed a fresh influx of new members boosting the total from a poor 41 to a healthy 51. Another encouraging thing about this increase was the amount of women. Unfortunately, though, we are still unable to attract younger members mainly due to the majority of our meets being held on mid-week afternoons. We try to encourage this age group via our website, advertising our opening hours through to 9.00pm, but so far without success.

## **Competitions**

We continue to enter teams in the local leagues such as the C.B.B.A. (Colchester Borough Bowling Association) and also the Sudbury Triples League. We used to enter county competitions, but have decided against this in future, concentrating more on the social side of our sport as the further progress in skill level is approached, obviously, the more competitive it becomes, impacting on the social side.

Unfortunately, since 2015 we were forced to abandon the ladies singles due to our dwindling female membership and lack of entrants, but with the increase as shown in the “Membership” paragraph we are looking forward to re-introducing this competition in the near future.

## **Infrastructure**

Unfortunately, previous building plans drawn up for a new pavilion have had to be abandoned due to the excessive expense. We are now considering a prefabricated building with minimal foundations.

A new contract was signed with our neighbours “The Therapy Centre” for rental of our car park for management & nurses, leaving their comparatively small car park more readily available for patients. This is a considerable source of income which goes a long way towards funds for the prefabricated building mentioned above.
