international, national, regional, and local authorities.

Three annual April Acts of Remembrance on the 17th,24thand
30thApril in Brixton, Brick Lane, and Soho.
National Hate Crime Awareness Week delivered between the
2ndand 3rdSaturday in October.
The creation and distribution of hate crime resources (our
annual H.O.P.E. campaign).
Volunteer activities–volunteer sessions, research, training,
outreach, fundraising, stewarding, media, and social media
including social media content, blog posts, website and
newsletter.
Attendance of meetings, seminars, and conferences to
represent and advocate for the views of those affected by
hate crime.
Working in partnership with local authorities (police and
councils), key partners and communities affected by hate
crime.

In 2021/22 12 active volunteers contributed to over 1239
volunteer hours.
Achievement and
Performance
We continued to host twice-weekly volunteer sessions on
Mondays and Tuesdays between 10 am to 5 pm throughout
2021/22 although ongoing concerns about Covid meant
attendance in person was low.
We renewed our zoom license so that we could continue to
host activities online–Tuesday lunchtime drop ins 1-2pm,
Thursday evening drop ins 7-8pm, NationalHCAW meetings
and NationalHCAW Board meetings.
We marked the 22nd anniversaries of the three nail bomb
attacks on Brixton, Brick Lane, and Soho on the 17th,24thand
30thApril 2018 with the three online April Acts of
Remembrance (this was the second time due to the Covid
pandemic that we were unable to hold these events in
person).
Our Rainbow Boroughs Project secured a place on the Pride
in London Parade–although the Pride in London march was
cancelled again due to the pandemic. The private Facebook
group has grown to 107 members.
We secured £25,000 funding from MOPAC to produce and
distribute hate crime resources as part of our annual H.O.P.E.
campaign.
We delivered the 10thNational Hate Crime Awareness Week
online with the support of local authorities, key partners and
communities affected by hate crime across the UK.
This included:
• Updated NationalHCAW website.
• NationalHCAW Google Map 2021.
• 9 newsletters / 6 social media post (Mailchimp)
• Online act of remembrance

We returned to St Paul’s Cathedral to hold our annual Act of Hope and Remembrance for those affected by Hate Crime. The national candle was lit in memory of those affected by Transphobic hate crime. Focus on Transgender Hate crime. We have notified MOPAC that we had an overspend of £200 towards our core costs this year. The UK Hate Crime Network group on LinkedIn has 428 members.

Through Facebook fundraising and PayPal Giving we have raised £2,096.79 (unrestricted funds which will go towards the development of our volunteer work and projects).

In March 2022 Sharon Kilborne joined our Board of Trustees.

Report to the trustees of 17-24-30 National Hate Crime Awareness Week CIO

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of 17-24-30 National Hate Crime Awareness Week (the Trust) for the year ended 31st March 2022.

Responsibilities and basis of the report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
