LMCMF Charity Commission Trustees’ Report

The charity’s name is Llantwit Major Chamber Music Festival.

Registration no. is 1184812

The address is :-

42 Boverton Brook

Llantwit Major CF61 1YH

The Trustees are :-

Cledwyn Lewis - Chairman

Keith Baker - Vice Chairman

Sally Tarlton - Secretary

Antony Tarlton - Treasurer

Andrew Elliott - Music Advisor

Graham Benfield OBE - Administrative Advisor Alyson Jones - Friends of the Festival Organiser

The repertoire for the performances, both public and those for schools are devised by the Festival Director, Ben Tarlton, who reports to the Board of Trustees for their approval.

The Trustees, having been initially invited because of their prior experience in management, education or the classical music world, recruit as a body any further trustees required.

1) Charity’s work

Preparing for and performing chamber music concerts for the annual Festival - this year one concert on Friday March 24th, one on Saturday 25th and two concerts, one early and one late afternoon, on Sunday 26[th] March.

All held in St Illtud’s Church, Llantwit Major, by kind permission of the Rector, Reverend Canon Edwin Counsell. Also ‘Outreach’ concerts at three schools in the Llantwit Major environs, on Thursday 23[rd] March.

The benefit to the community is for them to be able to hear live performances of the classical chamber music repertoire, at a very high level, for a very reasonable cost.

2)Where the money is from

First and foremost from sponsors large and small. Also ticket sales and “Friends” of the Festival.

3) Where the money has gone

Fees and travel expenses for the eight performers, as well as feeding them over the eight days that they were resident in the area. Accommodation was provided by volunteer hosts.

Costs were also involved with Publicity, Programme Printing, Ticket Printing, Piano Hiring and Tuning and Heating and Lighting in the Church.

We gave four performances and averaged an attendance of one hundred audience members per concert and just covered our costs.

AJ Tarlton - Treasurer on behalf of the Trustees
