Structure, governance and management
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by a CIO Association Constitution. The trustees are responsible for the governance and strategic oversight of the charity, including safeguarding, financial stewardship, risk management and ensuring the charity operates in line with its charitable objects.
The club is run substantially by volunteers, including trustees, committee members, coaches, managers and parents. Volunteer time is central to the delivery of football activity, the maintenance of facilities and the wider running of the club.
Objectives and activities
The object of the charity is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation, in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of Association Football.
The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities.
During 2023/24 the charity provided opportunities for children, young people and adults in the local community to take part in grassroots football, irrespective of ability. The club supported training, match-day activity, access to pitches, coaching, referees, kit and equipment, and participation in leagues, tournaments and end-of-season events.

Achievements and performance

Continued to provide structured grassroots football opportunities for the Shevington community across junior and wider club activity.

Maintained investment in pitch maintenance, facilities and winter training provision so that teams could continue to train and play through the season.

Supported player development through the provision of kit, equipment, footballs and coaching-related training.

Met league, referee, insurance and affiliation costs needed to keep teams operating safely and within the requirements of grassroots football.

Continued to rely on and benefit from a significant volunteer contribution from trustees, coaches, managers, committee members and parents.
Financial review
Total receipts for the year were £45,844 and total payments were £50,426, giving net payments of £4,582 for the year. Cash funds reduced from £33,480 at the start of the year to £28,898 at 30 June 2024.
The charity's principal sources of income were player subscriptions and contributions, sponsorship/fundraising income and other club income. Expenditure was incurred to support the charity's objects, mainly through pitch maintenance, winter training, kit and equipment, referee fees, league costs, trophies and insurance.
Reserves policy
The trustees aim to hold sufficient reserves to cover normal operating commitments and unexpected costs, including pitch maintenance, facility costs, insurance, equipment replacement and short-term fluctuations in income. Surplus funds are held with the principal objective of reinvesting in the club, its facilities and the provision of football for players and the wider community.

The trustees are not aware of any funds materially in deficit at 30 June 2024.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 30 / 06 / 2024 .
Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
