## **Covid-19 Impact**

Covid-19 has a massive impact on our lives. We never experienced such an event in our lifetime .During the pandemic Covid 19.The Covid-19 crises is changing our whole life style specially working under pressure from homes, depending more and more on IT technology. We need to think of gaps that are emerging in the community development staf training, distant learning, use of resources etc.

We have been working with the BAME community on the underlying issues through inclusion and integration of various segments of personal and professional lives of the BAME people. We are working in a close contact with BAME community where our first priority is to provide them the basic needs of life mainly monthly food ration, and health and hygiene necessities where we regularly distribute face masks, sanitizers, tissue rolls, and soaps when needed.

With the help of our funders Search Peace Foundation is able to help the most vulnerable people of the BAME community who sufered the most during the pandemic Covid 19. Search Peace Foundation is devoted to continue its vital work in supporting local BAME community and will support them to combat the horrific impact of Covid 19 on BAME community. Search Peace Foundation works mainly for/with BAME who sufered significantly due to Covid-19, so during our BAME assistance programme, health and education remain our priority besides the provision of basic needs and necessities. We are working on three main areas food, health & hygiene, and education because these are the most crucial ones when it comes to survival. We are arranging a regular campaigns and online meetings with the BAME people who are in the dire need of help during Covid 19. We are working on the key aspects of learning for youth and also highlighting the reforms through interventions based on technology and digitalization of educational programmes.

Being a diversified workforce, Search Peace Foundation is promoting and staffing volunteers, activities, and talented youth through our community development programmes and events.

## **Projects & Activities**

During the pandemic Covid-19, our dedicated team work just like frontline workers and remain in a close contact with the vulnerable people of BAME. We have been providing them the key basic necessities since the start of this pandemic that helped them to survive and sustain in a better way. One of the key aspects of this project is ‘Care to Share’ where we helped the marginalized community members in the initial period of the pandemic Covid-19. Under the guidance and leadership of our core team, many volunteers, and staf members are still working with BAME in order to know about their key issues and problems that evolve during this pandemic. We are devising various practical interventions and training programmes that can change the lives of many marginalized BAME members who still want to be heard and helped out.

In order to bring some significant changes in education during Covid-19, we suggested a massive change in technology that should cohere with the current needs of the learners and teachers. This is the era of technology, so digitalization and technological changes make a diference to equip community with updated and modern learning and information. The educational activities and interventions can bring awareness and advocacy, access to schools, information sharing, and advice besides support networks. This includes teachers, social and community workers/mobilizers, capacity developers/trainers/ professionals/government employees, corporate executives; using the learners focused interactive methodology and activity-based trainings.

Search Peace Foundation being one of the representatives of the BAME community is always ready to work for the welfare and betterment of the vulnerable and marginalized people in the community. Search Peace Foundation started its food distribution campaign in the form of winter/food packs and health & hyegiene necesities mainly including soaps, face-masks, senitizers, and tissue rolls and also the faciliation cum awareness and information campagains related to Covid testing and the Covid vaccine. We have distributed food packges to the most vulunerable people during covid-19 outbreak.

We engaged and supported 250-300 BAME families including their households of all age groups. Search Peace Foundation engaged their best team including staf and volunteers to carry out the food distribution and winter packs campaign for BAME families in London. We worked closely

with BAME people to faciliate them in testing against Covid 19 and also conducted awareness campaigns where we tried to dispell myths and misinformation related to the Covid vaccine.

As keeping the scope of this project in mind, we have conducted both promotional and on-ground activities where we used various promotional techniques and material including posters, pumphlets, video messages, social media posts, emails, and banners in both Urdu and English. For food distribution and winter packs, we reach out to the families at their doorsteps and distributed packs personally.

Search Peace Foundation tried their best to make this project a success story by connecting with the BAME community on regular basis, engaging people in various on-going activities related to the food distribution and winter packs, and enabling the BAME community to sustain by fulfiling their basic needs and nececesities and also faciliate them regarding Covid 19 testing and vaccine programmes by running awareness and information campaigns.

With the support of our funder, Search Peace Foundation also successfully delivered a project in order to take feedback from BAME members in the form of interviews where they share their experiences, insights, and observations. Besides, this we kept on doing a series of integrated activities that mainly included assistance to BAME community by providing monthly food and winter packs, key health and hygiene facilities, support programmes, and awareness and facilitation regarding Covid 19 testing and vaccine.

## **Vaccine awareness Campaign:**

Search peace Foundation campaigning for vaccinations. When we asked people about their views about the vaccine, many BAME members either refused to answer or unwilling to get the vaccine. They were having some misconceptions about the vaccine, and following myths and misinformation without any clarity. There was a strong resistance in some areas regarding taking vaccine. The most common myths that were circulating around were:

- The vaccine contains the virus itself

- The vaccine has some long-term side efects

- There is a chip or tracker on the vaccine to keep watching where you go

We organised awareness online sessions where we invited both healthcare experts, political leaders, faith leaders, and other dignitaries from BAME community who talked about significance of taking the vaccine. We also approached people and listened to their perceptions and

reservations regarding the vaccine and tried to overcome them or some of them by educating them with some clear scientific evidences.

**Skills Development Programme:** Majority of BAME members may need to learn some new skills or adapt the updated knowledge regarding their work. This area is usually neglected especially for minorities who learn through trial and error. Special skills development programmes can be arranged for BAME members where focus should be to enlighten them and prepare them for the future professional needs. This will encourage a lot of community members to actively take part in learning process and showcase their best abilities through their work.

## **Cricket Festival**

Cricket is the language and culture for south Asian communities. Waltham Forest is one of the diverse boroughs of London. Cricket is very expensive sports. It’s myth that only elite class plays cricket. With the support of Waltham Forest Council Search Peace Foundation delivered a mazing Cricket Festival. The WF Cricket Festival has provided an amazing opportunity for local residents to enjoy as Cricket is common language and culture of the BAME communities.
