Para 1.17 and
1.19
In the previous year the Trust undertook
work looking at the next steps in its
development including applying for funding
for fundraising and development staff to
further the progress in the establishment
phase. Unfortunately, these applications
were unsuccessful and so the trustees
sought other ways to secure the future for
the Trust and to implement its purposes.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Trustees have had regard to the
guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit. The main
activity has been to research how best to
meet the needs of new and diverse
audiences who might benefit from its
activities in the future. To support this
ambition the Trustees have sought routes
to secure funding which so far have been
unsuccessful the Trustees remain
committed to the Trust and its work and will
continue their work

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During this period, the Trust continue to
build on the consultants reports to try to
secure funding to secure the future of our
planned work. Using the ‘next steps’
guidance produced in 2022-23, a funding
bid was submitted to thefore.org for funding
for a Trust Development Manager in
August 2023, but this was unsuccessful.
The plan for the next year (2024-25) is to
work with Kent Funding For All a local
charity which can support us to develop
and deliver our ambitions. The Trustees
seek to retain the Kent Downs Trust and
remain committed to it.
The plan is to register the charity for Gift
Aid and further pursue funds through both
donation and grant applications.
