For the public benefit, the relief and assistance of rough sleepers, homeless persons and those in need of support to help prevent them from becoming homeless  within Wolverhampton City, in particular by supplying them with food, drinks, warm clothing and other provisions, giving emotional support and signposting them to other agencies who are able to provide further support.

To be a ‘first line of contact’ and provide emergency resources in order to meet immediate, practical needs whilst having the eventual aim of supporting people off the streets and into accommodation via supporting homeless people to engage with other agencies who are able to move them on. 

The prevention and relief of poverty for young, old and disabled people; asylum seekers and those with no recourse to public funds, and those with mental health issues and addictions, in particular by providing practical and emotional assistance and signposting at the point of contact. 

In addition, providing practical support to those who are being provided with hostel or other accommodation by the provision of furniture and sundries in order to support their retention of housing. 

Provide food & drink supplies. Provide clothing and toiletries. 

Give advice and guidance to enable people to connect with other services in the city to help them find accommodation, employment, documentation, work skills and benefits. Friendship and trust.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

Following on from a street based outreach, from early January 2019 we had the use of large room in a local church. 

This allowed us to expand our service provision from seeing 3040 people on the streets, to now include up to 60-70 people including rough sleepers and other vulnerable people who were housed. 

With a corresponding increase in the number of volunteers we were able to maintain a service five nights a week, all supported by donations from local shops and members of the public. 

We moved into 2020 feeling we were beginning to make more of a difference in people’s lives and then the Covid pandemic arrived. 

We returned to a street based outreach with a reduced number of volunteers due to several needing to shield for themselves and their family. 

When central government set a requirement for all homeless people to be ‘off the streets’ we were able to play a key role alongside other agencies and provided food and clothing for those that were initially accommodated in a local hotel. 

As people moved onto their own house or flat arranged by Wolverhampton council we continued to provide support throughout the initial pandemic lockdown by delivering regular food parcels direct to their home. 

As the pandemic began to recede in severity we continued to provide support for those who were in accommodation but struggling, particularly as the cost of living crisis began to be felt more keenly. 

We also saw a large reduction in the number of volunteers during this period with some people still cautious of Covid but we continued to provide our services with a handful of volunteers, including trustees.

Thanks to some generous private financial donations we were able to maintain our cash reserves which will help us to secure premises we can operate from which will allow us to provide a better level of support for more people.
