Governance

The Charity is a CIO registered as a body of corporate under part 11 of the Charities Act 2011. The Charity was primarily established on 28[th] July 2019 to obtain land and raise funds to build a community playground for the children of Mitchel Troy and surrounding villages in Monmouth.

The Aim is to promote, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Mitchel Troy and the surrounding area, the provision of a public park for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.

Activity in the year

The Trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the Charity. During the year to 31[st] July 2021 the Charity were able to secure grants from the National Lottery totaling £106850 after obtaining a 15 year lease with no annual rental cost on part of Glebeland in the village of Mitchel Troy in Wales. Work at the site commenced in earnest in September 2020.

Stage 1 of the park opened at the end of October 2020.

The Trustees consider that they have complied with their duties as set out in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have regard to public benefit guidance published by the Charities Commission.

Financial Review

The Trustees have opted to prepare the accounts on a receipts and payment basis due to the nature of the financing of the project. As required by the Charities Commission an independent examination was undertaken. The independent report on this examination is attached to these Financial Statements.

Statement of Registered Practice (SORP)

There are no funds held as custodian trustees.

The Trustees confirm that these Financial statements and reports are drawn up using guidelines laid out by the Charities Commission FRS 102.
