Governing Document;
Constitution; the charity operates under a constitution signed on Trustee selection method; The management of the charity is a 29[th] July 2019 responsibility of the trustees; current trustees will run for the next 6 years. AGM is held annually and our last one was done through Zoom 17[th] February 2022.
Trustees complete DBS checks in line with the guidelines set out from Ofsted and statutory guidance. Our trustees do not receive no payments for their time. Our Trustees aim to meet 6 times a year, twice each term. Several of our members hold relevant safeguarding qualifications and training and first aid.
Charity Aims; We are a small village playgroup, who run from a room at a local primary school since 2010. We are a not-for-profit organisation. We offer early years provision in and around the local surroundings, for all children aged 2-4.5 years old, of any culture and ability. Our setting is focused on learning through play and we offer children the opportunity to flourish in a secure and happy environment. We value all children as individuals and celebrate Britain’s diversity of culture.
We have policies and procedures as set by statutory guidance and staff attend training through the year to improve their knowledge and keep update with legislation.
We employ a manager, 1 deputy and 3 play practitioners, they plan activities within the Early Years Foundation Stage, and activities based on children’s interests.
Staff are key persons to a group of children and will continue to ensure that their children are learning and are happy and secure making friendships, and learning skills ready for their next transition. Staff have been completing training online during the period of closure due to pandemic and have also kept in regular contact with all their families and their children.
Each year we send out parent questionnaires, this is parents’ chance to let us know what they think and suggestions on our provision.
We also send out termly reports and have parents evening through zoom meetings this year, which were a great success.
We work closely with local primary schools, which enables our children to be confident and well settled as they move on from our setting. We will continue to support children with additional needs along side every other child.
Review of the Year; We reopened the playgroup in September 2020, after closing in March 2020 due to the Covid -19 pandemic, we welcomed all children and staff back and welcomed a new deputy, in February 2021, to the playgroup, to work alongside our deputy and manager. She unfortunately resigned at the end of July 2021. Fortunately for us, our play practitioner who had taken carer leave from April 2020 – September 2021 was soon to be returning which meant that the playgroup could remain open ass usual. We had a period of 2 weeks where we had to reduce children numbers due to staff contracting Covid 19 but parent’s and staff were amazing during this time and were happy to help us where needed.
Fundraising during the pandemic was difficult and we had to cancel our usual events due to restrictions. We have been able to do a couple of fundraising events this last year, we hosted a socially distanced Easter bunny visit, where we visited families socially distancing and dropping off easter eggs to all the children in the villages, this raised money which was used to purchase new resources for the playgroup. Our income is made up from Early Education Funding from the local council, for 2,3 & 4
years old. We also have some children who claim Think 2 funding which allows Numbers of children attending has been good this year, with most sessions being taken children from disadvantaged households access to a fully funded place along with up on a full-time basis. We have currently 27 children on the books all of which are from Early Years Pupil premium (EYPP). Other monies have been from paid fees from the local and surrounding villages.
