Organisalion was consliluled on 29th July 2019 but dFd not commence lo operate until 6th April
2020 when the assets and liabitits'es oflhe Medway Mi5wn to Seafarers Trust were transferred
lo it.

lowards the running costs and improvements al Pembroke Hthjse. Gillingharn, and al Sir John
Hawkins Hospital, Chalham, and to The Mission lo Seafarers lo be spent on seafareiy welfare
services.

The results forthe year are set out on page 6 and show Ihal the gross Income forthe yearwas
£28,590, an inGrease o12.ovo on Ihe previous year. Grants made in Ihe year were £18.724. a
reductSon of 25.1 /0. After governance costs, the surplus Dn unre¥triGted funds amounled lo
£7,275, leaving a balance on unrestrickd funo of £18.128.
b. Investment policy and perfomiance
The constitution allows forthe trustees lo tnvesl in any oflhe securities aulhorised by law forlhe
inveslmenl of Irusl funds. All investments are to be registered in the name of the NomirEe
Tn￿lee.

ol a deed of constitution, and took over the activilies of the Medway Mission to Seamen Trust

Independent examiner's report to the Trustees of Medway Mission to Mariners Trust (the
'Charity'}
I report to the Charrty Trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Medway Mission to
Seamen Trust for the year ended 5 April 2024.
Responsibillties and basis of report
As the Trustees of the Charity you are responsible forthe preparation ofthe accounts in accordance
with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act.).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the
Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions given by the
Charity Commission under section 145{5){b) of the Act.
Independent examinerfs statement
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause lo believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the chanty as required by section 130 of the
Act, or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records,. or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and
content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other
than any requirement that the accounts give a Irue and fail view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no Goncerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts lo be reached.

Basi5 of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounling and
Reporting by Charities-. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable io charblies
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard appllcable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting
. standard applicable in the Uniled Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102), the
Charities Act 2011 and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Praclice.
The financial statements have been prepared to give a'tDJe and fair, view and have
departed from the Charities (Accounts and Fieports) Regulations 2008 only to the exlenl
required to provide a 'lrue and fair vievl. This departure has involved following the
Accounling and Reporting by Charities- Statement of ReGommended Pfaclice applicable
lo chaTilies preparing their accounts wi accordance with the Financial Reporting Slandard
applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland issued in October 2019 raihef than the
Accounting and Reporting by Charities". Statement of Recommended Pradice effective
from 1 April 2005 which ha5 since been withdrawn.
The financial slatements are prepared on a going concern basis under the hisiorical Gosl
convention. modified to include certain items al fair value. The financial stalemenls are
presented in sterling which is the functional currency of the charity and rounded lo the
nearesl pound.
The Medway Mission lo Mariners ffinslilutes a public benefit enlity as defined by FRS
102.
Funds Structure
General funds are unrestnGted lunds which are available for use at Ihe dISc￿li0n of the
Trustees in furtherance of the genernl objective5 of the charity and which have not been
designated for olher purposes.
Income
All income is recognised once the charity has enlilleTnent to the income, it is probable that
Ihe income wlll be received and the amounl of incorne receivable Gan be measured reliably.
Income tax recoveTable in relalKJn to investment income ts recognised at the time the
investment income is receivable.
Expendlture
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer
eGonomiG benefit to a third paty. It is probable thal a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in 5etllemenl and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably."
Charitable activities are costs incuTred on Ihe charity's operations. including support Gosts

Cash at bank and in hand indudes cash and short tem highly liquid investments wllh a
short maturity of three months or less from the dale of acqulsition or opening of the deposit
or similar account.
Liablllties anfl provlslons
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligalion at the BalanGe sheetdate as a result of
a past event. it is probable that a transfer ol economlG benefrt will be required in selllemenl,
and the amount of the selllement Can be estimated reliably. Liabilities are recognised al Ihe
amount that the charlty anliGipates il will pay to settle Ihe debt or the amount K has reGeived
as advanced payments for the goods or services it mu51 provtde. Provisions are measured.
at the besl estimate of the amounts required 10 5etl]e the obligation. Where the effect of the
lime value of money is material. Ihe provision is based on the present value of those
