Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

To provide counselling and psychotherapy on an affordable and accessible basis to people in the locality who are unable to afford therapy from private therapists.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

The organisation has provided counselling for one hundred plus clients in this timeframe. Clients are often complex in their therapeutic need and have not been eligible for NHS services and often benefit from longer-term therapy than most charitable organisations are able to offer. Clients donate an affordable amount towards the cost of their therapy.

The Trustees are in regular communication with representatives of the Management Committee and all are mindful of the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on Public Benefit.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

We have recruited volunteers through the year in order to respond to an ever increasing demand from clients. Clients selfrefer either via internet searches, personal recommendations or by signposting by NHS Mental Health services or other charitable organisations.

Our volunteer therapists are either experienced psychotherapist wishing to serve this client base (unable to afford private fees and often with complex psychological issues) or are placement counsellors working towards their qualifying hours for accreditation/qualification.

Our therapists are supported by a team of five Clinical Supervisors. Three of our supervisors are self-employed, and their fees are paid by DCCP. Two of our supervisors volunteer and receive no fees.

We are the only organisation in Teignbridge offering such services.
