Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Over the financial year Cylch Meithrin
Amlwch has supported 25 children aged 2
or 3 to learn through play and be
surrounded by the Welsh language whilst
doing so.
Through applications to funding
opportunities the Cylch has been able to
provide new resources for the children to
support their development, moving to a
more natural setting- offering opportunities
to play and learn, rather than very set and
structured activities.
Some of our previous equipment such as
drawers for childrens work became
redundant and we were able to accept
donations for these to the Cylch (£250).
Children have developed their Welsh
language skills, grown in confidence and
also gained skills. The focus this financial
year has been to promote social skills,
alongside learning. We have also
welcomed a new approach in terms of how
we support the children to develop, which
has required new resources in line with
Welsh government guidance. We also had
a new member of staff join the team in
September who required a number of
courses this financial year to support their
development.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 At year end the Cylch made a loss of
£4700, however we received grants at the
end of the previous financial year which
were spent in 2021/22.
We also underwent an inspection which
highlighted a substantial amount of new
equipment required, so we did have to
spend out more this financial year on
resources- however these should put us in
good stead for the future.
The account balance stood at just shy of
£3000 with cash payments being paid in at
the start of the next financial year.
We had a shift in terms of cash payments,
with many parents opting to pay via BACs
transfer now. Payments are divided on the
spreadsheet for reference, we anticipate as
years go on less and less parents will opt
to pay cash.
It is hoped that the next financial year will
bring more fundraising events. Covid still
had an impact here in terms of what events
parents were willing to support. A
Christmas disco was booked but then
cancelled due to a high number of cases
locally.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 No policy in place currently.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 n/a
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 Informally we aim to hold a reserve of
£2000 which along with the termly grant
from YMCC would cover 2 months wages
for staff.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 n/a
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23
