Trustees. report (contlnued) for the year ended 5 April 2023
Achlevaments and performanc8 leontlnuedl
The general appeaiance of the Centre has been improved considerably and we are getting lols of good
feedback from users. This has been another good year for Thornton Community Cenlre. We have employed a
Cgnlro Mana98r lo laka ovèr thé day to day runnin9 of the centre, leaving the Committeg Irge to plan 8 luturo
strategy. We continuo to working hard on securing the CAT transfer to gnablo us to ffl8ke alleTalions to the
buildlng that will build resilience, and are very hopeful th81 on thè next Trusl8es' report we will have secured a
lease.
We have already fitted a new boiler and are looklng foN4ard to the Solar Panels being filled shortly. This will
mean that our reserves will start lo fall and. al the end of next financial year, we will monitor this closely.
Voluntèers are an important resource for our centre. Volunteers gel involved in most ol ou¥ organised events
and projects. We have over 20 regular volunl8ers who give their lime regularfy and we encourage local
communlly residents lo gel involved and share their skills with others. We have planned a series of events.
FSnanclal rovlew
The nel payments for the year were £27.412, including nel paymens of £31,OS1 on unreStr￿ted funds and nel
receipts of £3.639 on r8slrScl8d funds gflÈr transfers.
Thg ¢harlty's main source ol income Is through rental agrogments wtlh our 14 groups and through fundin9
applications from various sources.
Re8erv•8 poII¢y
The charity's free reserves, al the year end w8re £44,504.
Thè Iruslees h8vo reviewed the reserv8s ol the charity. Our policy to hold enough funds lo moel 6 months,
oper81ing costs, and we estimate we need just ov6r £21,000 in reserves. We conlinue to upgrade the ¢enlre
with new lighting, decorating and general upkeep. We currently spend around £4.000 a year on these projects.
We do intend to maintain our existing range of community aclivilies and long term want lo expand and open
either a coffee shop or café. so we can become sell-sustaining and not rely on funding all the time lo kegp us
going.
