MARINDIN HALL, FRENSHAM Annual Report For the Year Ending 31 August 2023 Principal Address The Marindin Hall, Millbridge, Frensham, Surrey GU1O 3DG Constitution The Charity was incorporated as a Foundation model Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with number 1184454 on 17 July 2019 as a consequence of its conversion from a predecessor Trust of the same name (registered with number 203736). The activities and assets of the Charity were transferred effective 1 March 2020 and the freehold interest in the Hall premises was transferred to the Charity from the Official Custodian on 27 July 2021. The conversion will be completed after the year end when the predecessor Trust is dissolved. Activity for the Year The Hall premises have been used in accordance with the Charity's constitutional objects throughout the year. The Charity's activities are recovering from the impact of the COVID19 pandemic and the lockdown measures taken to control it. The Charity accounts are prepared on a cash basis. The full year comparable bookings reflect the impact of and recovery from the Covid lockdown, which was mitigated by relief from Government grants and lower direct costs. The Trustees have been working to encourage recurring and one-off hall hires, while also maintaining and improving the fabric of the Hall. The Charity has also welcomed the return of financial support in the form of donations from supporters and especially the Frensham Village Fayre. Expenditure in the year on repairs and maintenance continued with planned preventive maintenance, timely repairs and modest improvements to make the Hall even more attractive to hirers. The ongoing CIO conversion also incurred further one-off other costs in line with expectations. While some variable costs have reduced in line with hirings, the Trustees continue to seek to minimise fixed costs. Independent Examination The Trustees have determined that these accounts are not eligible for independent examination on the bases that they are not required to do so by its Constitution; the gross income for the year is less than £25,000, and they are not subject to any other external scrutiny requirements.
