MARINDIN HALL, FRENSHAM Annual Report For the Year Ending 31 August 2020 |Principal Address|The Marindin Hall, Millbridge, Frensham, Surrey GU1O 3DG| |---|---| |Constitution|The Charity was incorporated as a Foundation model Charitable Incorporated| ||Organisation (CIO) registered with number 1184454 on 17 July 2019 as a consequence of| ||its conversion from a predecessor Trust of the same name (registered with number| ||203736). The activities and assets of the Charity were transferred effective 1 March 2020| ||and the conversion will be completed after the year end when the freehold interest in the| ||Hall premises is transferred to the Charity from the Official Custodian and the Charity's| ||predecessor is dissolved.| ||Prior to conversion, the Charity's predecessor was established as a Trust under a Deed| ||dated 23 November 1904 as amended on 23 July 1926.| |Activity of the Year|The premises have been used in accordance with the Charity's constitutional objects (and,| ||pre-conversion, its trust deed) throughout the year. However, the Charity's activities were| ||severely affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown measures| ||taken to control it.| ||The Charity accounts are prepared on a cash basis. For this initial period, receipts and| ||payments are reported as if the transfer had occurred on 1 September 2019 immediately| ||following the predecessor's last year end, and the comparative figures presented are| ||those of the predecessor entity. While full year reported hiring receipts are consistent with| ||2019, this includes a number of collections in 2020 for hirings that occured in 2019. After| ||allowing for these, actual 2020 full year bookings were £2,399 (25%) below 2019 due to| ||lockdown, where actual bookings from 1 March 2020 were less than £200.| ||While the pandemic lockdown has continued after the year end the Trustees have been| ||working to reopen the Hall where it is safe to do so, while also maintaining the fabric of the| ||hall. Regular hirers are returning cautiously.| ||The Hall continues to receive tremendous support from the local community and the| ||annual Christmas walk raised £180. While there were no other financial donations during| ||the year, the Charity did receive a one-off grant of £10,000 from the Coronavirus Retail,| ||Hospitality and Leisure Fund.| ||Expenditure in the year on repairs and maintenance continued with planned preventive| ||maintenance, timely repairs and modest improvements to make the Hall even more| ||attractive to hirers. The ongoing CIO conversion also incurred further one-off other costs| ||in line with expectations. While some variable costs have reduced in line with hirings, the| ||Trustees continue to seek to minimise fixed costs.
