Respective responsibilities of the trnstees and examiner. The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for the year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 201 l Act) and that an independent examination is needed. li is my responsibility to: Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 201 l ACL To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Chariry Cornmission under se¢tion 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Aci: and To stste whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of indepelldent examiner's report My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes Consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, seeking explanations fTom you as trustees Concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence thai would be required in an audit and consequenily no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view, and the report is limited to those matters sei out in the statement below. Governance and Management: The Trustees administer the funds and seek from the general public opportunilies lo assist with charitable projects in the local area and within the Lions organisation. The members of the Club decide which reques should be considered for funding and the amount thereof. Tlie Trustees are aware of Ihe risks assumed in the operation of the Trust and have considerable experience of Fundraising activities. The annual fireworks display is the largest ofthese and is 5ubjecled to health and safety assessmenc. Insurance is carried to cover all activiues and it is Considered that with this the risks to the Trust and its Trustees are significantly reduced. No induction programme is proved for new Trustees as ihey are trnined by the existing otTice-liolders in the Operational procedures required io be undertaken. The £40,000 invested for Ihe long term in January 1999 remains Eo allow future projects to be funded from ihe investments. which stand al £13.880.94 with Black Rock and £29.121.61 wilh M & G.
