Trustees’ Annual Report
Charity registration number: 1184407

Objectives and Activities
We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Our objective is to provide facilities for the recreation and leisure time occupation of young people in Upminster and the surrounding area in the interest of social welfare by the provision of facilities and training in football to develop their physical and mental capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and that their conditions of life may be improved.
We meet our objectives by providing facilities and volunteers to allow children to play football within the structures of the Football Association. Currently the club hires pitches and training facilities from the local council and local schools. A planning application has been submitted to develop a new ground that will allow the club to provide enhanced facilities to a more diverse set of beneficiaries.
This year we had over 120 volunteers delivering football to over 400 children in all age groups from 6 to 18 years of age. All volunteers were unpaid. It is estimated that the economic value of our volunteers is more than £1m.
We feel we provide a public benefit as we give members the opportunity to engage in physical activity. This is carried out in a safe environment and helps improve their overall health.
We allow members to build self-esteem as they learn to trust in their own abilities, receive encouragement and praise from coaches and parents, and learn to accept constructive criticism. Playing football can help children develop important social skills such as good citizenship, positive peer relations and respect for authority.
Members also learn personal skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, self-discipline, and a sense of initiative.
Financial Review
We are in a strong financial position. Our main source of income is from membership fees which have remained constant for several years.
We maintain reserves for working capital purposes, future ground development and in mitigation of any change in our financial circumstances. Our combined reserve for these purposes is £150,000 which has been built up since 1966 when the club was first formed.
