Section D                      Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

The biggest challenge to the operation of the charity during the year was the introduction of restrictions on public gatherings associated with the Covid 19 pandemic.

As soon as the restrictions were introduced, we suspended all in-person sessions. However, we were able to keep in touch with most of our young beneficiaries online and posted games and challenges for them to undertake at home.

As restrictions were eased, we were able to undertake small group sessions.

The easing of pandemic restrictions led to a marked increase in membership enquiries as parents looked for regular outdoor activities for their children.

Although the lack of usual activity meant that our usual income was severely restricted, we were able to reduce our expenditure accordingly so our financial position was, if anything, slightly enhanced.

Our income was £76,720, principally from subscriptions. Our expenditure was £58,817. Our surplus was, therefore, £17,903

## **Section E                    Financial review**

Broadly speaking, we choose to invest the vast majority of surplus **Brief statement of the** income in activity, kit and equipment that benefits our users. However, as **charity’s policy on reserves** our main site (rented from a school) is prone to flooding, we aim to keep a minimum of £3,000 cash in reserve for the additional costs this can incur in hiring alternative venues etc.

## **Details of any funds materially**

**in deficit**

## **Further financial review details (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);
