Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20
During the year under review the
charity’s main achievements were:
Continuing with our “Build a Better
Future” appeal that was launched at the
end of May 2022. We sought to
encourage UK sponsors to give money
that could be used towards further
widescale food distributions. This was
as a result of the severe impact of
increased food prices seen on a
worldwide level, fuelled by the increased
cost of living crisis. The increased food
distribution was continued for nearly 6
months.
The appeal also aimed to support the
retention of teachers employed at The
Fathers Childrens School. By financially
supporting the school with additional
funds via our appeal, we were able to
ensure teacher’s salaries were more
sustainable, leading to full retention of
staff.
We continued throughout the year to
raise new sponsorships for children,
enabling more children to attend school.
We also sought to increase the number
of elderly women (who are living on their
own or looking after grandchildren) to be
covered by our ‘Befriend a Granny’
scheme. This scheme ensures practical
needs can be met for those elderly
individuals who are often neglected
community members. The financial
support provided to them, helps to
supply food and home essentials for
them and the family members they care
for.
In June 2022, we helped financially
support The Fathers Childrens School
sports day. This is a large community
event and enables feeding for extended
families and guardians.
Following a physical return to school
after multiple covid closures over the
previous years, children were schooled
as normal via our sponsorship scheme.
In January 2023 after a few weeks of
Government led school closures
(following an Ebola outbreak), the
children were again able to resume
normality and recommence normal
schooling, which enabled all remaining
terms to be completed as planned.
Ongoing support was provided to The
Fathers Children School, ensuring hot
meals were again provided to all school
children, and scholastic materials were
~~so rced as req ired~~

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 TFCM has again had a stable regular
income in this reporting year. Compared
to the previous reporting year, our
financial remains relatively unchanged.
This is thanks to an excellent response
to our appeal, and the continued support
of our UK sponsors and local churches.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 No financial reserves are held by TFCM.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 Zero.
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 All funding received is utilised and
allocated to our projects on a monthly
basis.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 TFCM does not have any funds
materially in deficit.
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 Economic uncertainty as a result of the
general cost of living crisis has given us
additional challenges, but thanks to our
sponsors support, we have been able to
navigate through this, ensuring the
children, their teachers and any
extended families we support have been
supported well by TFCM.
