Slnce 1986, the London Borou8h of Barklng and Da8enham has experienced sustained population growth anil
Si8nifi¢ant infrdstrurture investment. These chan8es have transformed the borough Inio one of London's most
dynamlc and diverse communitiès. With new housing developments, regeneration schemes. and improved transport
connectfvlty, the borough has welcomed thousands of new resident5-many ofwhom are from ethnically and
religiously diverse backgrounds. This demographlc shift has placed increased demand on local seNiees. Including
voluntary and laith-based organisations such as the Barking Muslims A$50¢iatiOn.
The Barking Muslims Association has responded proactwelyto this challenge, evoknng from a small community
Iniliative to create a plate of worship, into a borough-wide providerof e55ential services. tt5 Portfolio now extends
well beyond religious provision. encompassing educational programmes, youth eneagemenL family support, food
distribution, mental hÈalth awareness. and interfaith di3logue. These services are accessed by residents acr05S
multiple wards-from Barkin8 Riverside to Becontree-demonstratlng the organisation's reach and relevan￿ across
the borough.
In doing so. Ihe A550ciation plays a vital role in slJPPOrtin8 the borough's broader community infrastructure. Bv
offering culturally sensitNe and inclusive sewvices, it help5 reduce pressur? on statutory 5ervicesJ promote5 social
cohesion. and contribute5 to the borou8h's public health and wellbeing objectives. The organisation's work
cornplements council-led initiatwes, particularly in areas suth as early Interventlonj youth development, and
cornmunity safety.
To meet 8rowng demand. the Barking Muslims Association has invested in expandin8 Its physical infrastructure,
stren6thenin8 its 8overnance, and bulldln8 Strate8ic pather5hlps wlth local schools, charltles, and councll
departments. Over nearw four decades, the organlsatlon has developed a communlty
complex that now delivers 47 distinct services to over 17.000 weewy visitors, resulting in an annual foorfall tsf
approximately 816.￿)0 51te visit5.

Trustees. responsibilities in relation to the financial statements
The charity trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the accounts in
ao¢ordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United
Kingdom Generally Accepted Practice).
The law applicable to Charities in England and Wales requires the charity trustees to
prepare financial statements for each year which give a true and fair view of the state of
affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, of the
charity for that period.
In preparing th8 accounts, the Trustees are required to;
Select suitable accounting principles and then apply them consistently;
Observe the methods and principles in the applicable Charities SORP:
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent"
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed. subject to any
material departures that must be disclosed and explained in the financial
statements.,
Prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless it is appropriate

The twslees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with
reasonable accurate at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to
ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the applicable
Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations. and the provision of the Trust deed. They
are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and taking reasonable steps
