I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 30/06/2022 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have **examiner's statement** come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The Objects of the Club are such purposes as are exclusively charitable in England and Wales, including in particular: 

1. The advancement of citizenship by

4. The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need, in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief 

5. The advancement of health or the saving of lives by preventing avoidable blindness, assisting disabled people to lead independent lives or helping to prevent or manage health issues 6. Promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment 

7. Promoting community participation in healthy recreation. 

1. The Club has developed good links with the local secondary schools whose students take an active part in fund raising and community events organised by the Lions. 2. The Club supports Penrith Town Council, Penrith BID and other local community organisations by providing manpower when requested for their community events. 

3. The Club is open to new members, provides its members with a wide range of opportunities for volunteering and encourages members to become active Lions and take up these opportunities.

4. The Club makes donations to local individuals and groups who are in need and makes donations to help with international disasters and health related projects through the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). 

5. The Club participates in the Lions ‘Message in a Bottle’ and ‘Message in a Wallet’ projects and maintains a defibrillator which the club funded and installed in a local hotel. The Club makes donations to Water Wells and Eye Camps organised by LCIF. 6. The Club maintains planters that it has installed at the edge of the main roads into the town.

## Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the Club’s fundraising and social activities during the year have been somewhat curtailed. This challenge notwithstanding, the Club has continued to pursue its programme of charitable activities and support, endeavouring to use its financial and other resources as best as practicable to continue the delivery of its charitable objects as effectively as possible. 

During the period the Club has made 36 donations with a total value of £10,105.10. 

Of these 9 were made to international appeals through the vehicle of the Lions Clubs International Foundation including donations to youth activities in the UK, Wateraid and Sightsavers in the third world and to disaster appeals relating to Haiti, European floods, Tonga and Ukraine. 

The remaining 27 donations were made to local good causes including a number to: support local families in crisis, aid individual young people with personal and educational development, enable activities by local voluntary groups, and support individual and community development in sports and the arts.
