The strategic direction for the charity is set by the Senior Pastors (with Glen Blow also being a trustees at the close of the financial year). The current chair of Trustees is Michael Lopez, with Glen Blow undertaking the treasurer role on a temporary basis. Sarah Creek is the current Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding trustee. The trustees meet quarterly to review charity performance, operations, risk and finances. At this stage in the charity’s life, the trustees shall recruit new or additional trustees from within the membership of the Freedom Vineyard Dartford church community wherever possible. The trustees shall prayerfully consider future trustee(s), with a view based on: - Their commitment to the life of the charity, - skills/professional qualification and/or experience that can aid the charity, - their character & temperament, and - if two equally suitable candidates are in consideration for a single post, then the appointment that will increase overall trustee diversity will be strongly considered. All trustees undergo enhanced DBS checks before appointment and annually thereafter. Freedom Vineyard Dartford – Trustees’ Annual Report Page 4 ## **Activities, Objectives & Achievements** Financial year 2023-2024 saw some significant changes and expansion of Freedom Vineyard’s reach and activities. Firstly we planned for a transition of leadership from the four founding leaders to a leadership team, with Glen & Amanda Blow being the point leaders for the church. This is due to Dave & Suzanne Bridge’s plans to move out of the area to support their parents in Q4 2024. A leadership team was recruited following a year long leaders’ training course led by Dave & Suzanne. The leadership team gives more scope for scaling the church and charity’s activities, with better governance and a bigger pool of skills. The wellbeing group launched in the previous year continued throughout the year, with successful courses being run in a new venue, to reduce the significant costs of using council facilities. We also solely funded these wellbeing groups and had extremely positive feedback from members of the group, the vast majority of whom have no connection to any church. In addition, we are still in contact with many of the group members and continue to provide ad-hoc support and encouragement to them. Freedom Vineyard donated resources to a number of charities in the year including an equipment donation to the local community centre, financial and human resources help to the Dartford food bank and support for an international charity developing church and community development leaders throughout Eurasia. The charity invested in leadership development by supporting one of our members on a low income to attend the Vineyard College, a 1 year in person vocational leadership training course providing input on a wide range of leadership topics. We launched further groups to create space for building friendships and providing supportive spaces for both members of the church and those in the community with no connection to any church. A monthly Lego and board games group was launched on a Sunday aimed at families to come and enjoy a safe, fun environment. In addition, a monthly social group was set up that met in the evenings and started meeting at a local pub. Both groups were well attended. The summer saw us take a group of 12 young people to Vineyard’s annual summer youth festival – Dreaming the Impossible. This was a highlight of the year where our youth were able to join over 3500 other young people from around the country for Christian worship & discipleship, plus a host of fun activities throughout the day and evening. The church came together to support a member who was seriously ill in hospital following complications from an elective procedure. The member was visited daily and the family supported through an extremely difficult time for them. We also launched a monthly worship and prayer meeting for the church which was well attended and had a very positive dynamic. We rounded out the calendar year by providing a free Christmas party for the community held at the local cricket club where we had over 90 people attend. We had a fantastic celebration, with games and fun activities for all ages.
