It is governed by the Foundation Model Constitution which was adopted on 28[th] June 2019. ## **Recruitment and appointment of new Trustees** - (1) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. - (2) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** ## **Objectives** The objects of Netherthong Community Partnership are: To further or benefit the residents of the village of Netherthong and surrounding areas, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents. In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power: To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects. ## **Significant activities** During the year, the Trustees have met in person on 3 occasions. The Trustees and a few volunteers have continued to promote and develop the church for community use and organise fundraising events with the support of the local community. A number of events have been held during the year and have attracted local people with varying amounts of support. These include a monthly ‘soup and sandwich’ event, which has proved to be very popular and successful, a quarterly ‘bacon and books’ event, a monthly ‘knit and natter’ afternoon and a monthly games afternoon. Our annual Christmas Market continues to be highly successful and well attended, attracting a wide range of local craft/artisan and produce stalls. Trustees also organised for a local brass band to play at the event, which was highly appreciated. The community space has been booked several times for private events including local meetings, family events and children’s parties. Local fitness classes and a children’s rugby class now use the community space weekly and have attracted a wider local demographic using the space. Kirklees 4 **Netherthong Community Partnership Year ended 30[th] June 2025** **__________________________________________________________________________________** College also started a weekly crafting class which has proved highly popular with the local community. Regular bookings such as art classes and the village beaver and cub group have also continued. Within the community space, Trustees hosted an afternoon tea, including chocolate making and entertainment which was very well received. The Trustees have also held two charity curry nights at the local curry house which have been well supported by the community. The Trustees would like to extend their thanks to all the volunteers who have helped in any way with events and the volunteer gardening events. ## **Public benefit statement** The Trustees confirm that when planning the activities of the charity they have regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit. ## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** During the year, the Trustees have been working to improve the community space and grounds. Volunteer days were held in Autumn 2024 and Spring 2025 to enhance the look of the grounds. This involved cutting back overhanging growth from trees were allowed and foliage from bushes, weeding and sweeping of outside paths. Part of the area around the building was lined and pebbled to help prevent weeds and create a pleasant look to the space. A professional gardener continues to strim the outside areas on a fortnightly basis during Spring to Autumn. The local cub group planted bulbs at the entrance to enhance the look of the area in Spring, and a local resident volunteered to maintain the planters at the entrance to the community space. The Trustees employed a specialist company to cut back growth on trees with TPOs impacting the building/pathways, following permissions granted by the local council. They also removed some nonprotected trees that were diseased or dangerous to the public. Work on updating the community space online presence has been undertaken to improve the look and feel of the page and there has been a significant improvement in online ‘traffic’ and online followers because of this. A local volunteer also repaired the notice board in the entrance to the grounds, so details of events and news can be placed here for those who do not have access to the internet. The Trustees continue to work with the diocese to obtain necessary permissions to renovate areas of the community space which remains a slow process. Trustees are continuing to address this and apply for grants to assist with this work. The Trustees appointed a company specialising in Grade 2 listed buildings to clear the guttering which had caused water ingress. This company also repointed areas of the building on instruction by the Trustees to further reduce damp issues within the community space. The Trustees have been advised by a local tradesperson, who assessed the building internally, to allow the internal walls time to fully dry out prior to commencing any major work with internal replastering and redecorating. This continues to be monitored, and grants applied for to help cover the extensive costs entailed with this work. Local volunteers worked to repair the locking mechanism of the front door which had jammed. Following this, the door has become much easier to use for all who use the community space, which is a positive and much needed improvement. The trustees applied for a grant from the local parish council to enable the purchase of a Christmas tree and lights in the church grounds for the benefit of the local community. This was successful the tree was enjoyed by all. 5 **Netherthong Community Partnership Year ended 30[th] June 2025** **__________________________________________________________________________________** A number of Trustees attended an online training workshop to advise on the correct running of a charitable organisation and the role of a Trustee. It was a positive experience for those who attended and highlighted the governance of the NCP is as it should be. ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** None of the trustees received any payment for duties or personal expenses. Expenses for goods bought for events or projects were repaid. Net receipts for the year were £17998.04. Expenditure for the year was £20543.76.
