Witney Lions Club were able to support a wide range of community
groups and individuals
during 2021-2022.

Witney Lions awarded
grants
directly
in response to requests
received
and ran the Witney Lions Dream Scheme enabling
local groups
to apply
for funding
to enable them to work and provide support
within the
community.
We supported
individuals
and groups
working
with those
in need by
supporting
the homeless
and families
in need by essential
appliances
and household
items. 2900.
We provided
support
for the local day care volunteers
to enable them
to
be treated to a meal for their dedication
and care during
the pandemic.
Witney Lions Dream Scheme. We were able to run this scheme
late
in
the financial
year. Allocating 24000 from the money raised by the
Christmas
collection to the Scheme.
Funds were pledged and paid out to a number
of community
groups
across the area we cover. These groups support a wide range of
activities and support
in the community
ranging
from reading
support
in
schools, to adult,
youth and children's
groups.
We supported
Lions Club International
Foundation
by giving money to
the Refugees and Displaced Persons
Fund to support
the Lions work
with Ukrainian
refugees (2500).
As part ofthe Lions Clubs International
British Isles Projects and
in
collaboration
with local opticians we have set up spectacle recycling
bins.
The used spectacles are collected and taken to a UK central collection
point where they are processed
and recycled supporting
communities
eye clinics across the world.
In addition,
we support the Lions Message
in a Bottle Project working
with local groups to distribute
the bottles thereby
supporting
this
lifesaving
service.
We do not have a specific reserve amount,
we distribute
our funds as
we
