CHAIR’S REPORT – ACTIVITIES AND PERFORMANCE
Swansea Pride held a successful Pride Festival and Parade on 29[th] April 2023. Due to a difficulty with waterlogging we had to move our site just before the event to a new location at the Guildhall in Swansea. This was a larger event than previous years which saw an expansion of the Pride footprint in terms of having a larger presence of stalls and traders and a larger area for engagement with community groups. The event attracted an attendance of around 5000 people during the course of the day. We continued our strong partnership with both Swansea Council, Welsh Government and National Waterfront Museum to deliver the event.
The charity continued throughout the year to engage in various community events and opportunities such as holding an open mic night. We also continued to be an active member of the UK Pride Organisers’ Network.
We successfully gained a grant from Swansea Council to provide a free brunch club at the start of 2024 which was successfully attended.
RESERVES POLICY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
The Trustees recognise that control and management of risks is of crucial importance in ensuring the organisation’s future. The Trustees have deemed it prudent to have unrestricted funds (free reserves) held by the charity and notes this is not for profit but is to be used for the aims and objectives of the CIO in the future.
The charity has ZERO liabilities as at year end. However, these financial statements are prepared on the going concern basis. The trustees have a reasonable expectation that the CIO will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
STATEMENT OF FINANCIAL ACTIVITIES
The Trustees have prepared the financial statements of Swansea Pride CIO for the year ending 31 March 2024 which comprises of an income/expenditure balance sheet and notes to the accounts.

As explained more fully in the Trustees' responsibilities statement on page 4, the Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view.
In our opinion the financial statement:
-
Gives a true and fair view of the state of the CIO’s financial position as at 31 March 2024
-
Complies with the Charity Commission’s Guidelines for a CIO
-
Will be published on the Swansea Pride CIO website for the public to see.
