Community Action Trust UK | Zimbabwe ## **TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!** ## **Charity Commissions’ Chairman’s Report:** Community Action Trust Board Meeting **Date** : 13 December 2023 **Venue** : Virtual Meeting A warm welcome and greetings to our Trustees who are on the Board: Tracey Jane Bell, George Galloway, Makah Gunduza, Mohammed Ebrahim Patel, Sumayya Tahera Peterson, Edgar Rogers. We bid farewell to 3 trustees, having served on the Trustees Board for a year, and we extend our thanks for their knowledge and dedication in being a part of the board of trustees for the last year. They served Community Action Trust and helped the charity, its volunteers and its beneficiaries. - Jinty Joy Orange, - Juby Cohen, - Mercy Musvipa. ## **Financial Report** : In keeping with the requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales, as well as in line with Community Action Trust’s mandate, our Financial Accounts will be made available to any interested persons and will be submitted to the Charity Commission. ## **Structure - UK** : Community Action Trust is registered in England and Wales and has its trustees and main volunteer group based in the UK. The Board of Trustees consists of the following: - Tracey Jane Bell (Founder / Chairperson / Trustee), - George Galloway (Vice Chairperson / Trustee), - Makah Gunduza (Secretary / Administrator / Trustee), - Mohammed Ebrahim Patel, - Sumayya Tahera Peterson, - Edgar Rogers. ## **Structure – Zimbabwe:** The charity’s help and focus group is in Zimbabwe and has volunteers who are based in Zimbabwe who help with the registration of the beneficiaries, distribution of the charity’s donations, coordination of all local logistics, donations, volunteering, and also work with the trustees in the UK to run fundraising efforts in Zimbabwe and any potential local donations. Noted members of Community Action Trust volunteers in Zimbabwe are: Daphne Sanders, Bridgit Arundel, Marina Hickey, Gillian Hall, Sharon Van Eden, Rhona Shahadat, Joyce Weire, Miranda Farera, Fenella Matulich, Gillian Adams, Sheila Coleman. ## **Beneficiaries** : Community Action Trust is currently supporting: - 140 Vulnerable Elderly in provinces in and around Zimbabwe, - 36 Children under 18 with special needs, - 8 elderly in Honde Valley Old Age Home, - 10 elderly in Rhodes Jubilee Cottages Bulawayo, - 17 elderly in Zororai Old Age Home Mutare, - 200 Poverty stricken Families in provinces in and around Zimbabwe. - The support offered is in the form of mobility aid equipment, facilitation of doctor prescribed medication, and monthly living sustenance groceries. Community Action Trust UK | Zimbabwe ## **TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!** **Planned Fundraising Events 2024 – held in the UK** : - Golf Tournament – 13 June 2024. Our Annual Golf Day will be held at Stockwood Park, Luton. This has become an annual Community Action Trust Golf Tournament as it has been held every year since 2021. - Black Tie Dinner/Gala – 02 November 2024. Reconnect IV Gala will be held at The Palatial Hall, Milton Keynes. ## **Planned Fundraising Events 2024 – held in Zimbabwe** (in aid of and on behalf of the charity): Our Zimbabwe members have been very active in fundraising and social events and will be holding the following events: - Mother’s Day Lunch (Harare) – 12 May 2024. - Father’s Day Lunch (Bulawayo) – 16 June 2024. - Jamboree (Harare) – 31 August 2024. - Bingo (Harare) – 20 November 2024. - Bingo (Bulawayo) – 30 November 2024. ## **Container Shipment to Zimbabwe** : Community Action Trust has facilitated and received a generous donation of mobility/standing aid equipment such as wheelchairs, zimmer frame walkers, crutches, leg braces, perching stools; movement adaptive beds/cots, chairs, over-bed tables; commodes and toilet/bathroom assistance aids for bath/shower support, raised toilet seats, support rails; buggies/prams, bicycles, tricycles, spare parts, books, toiletries, adult pampers, and sanitary wares. All these will be distributed to not only the registered beneficiaries, but also to vetted and verified needy people in the local communities in Zimbabwe. This will be done by the volunteers in Zimbabwe with the help and guided support of the trustees. ## **Conclusion** : Chairman Tracey Jane Bell would like to thank the Board and all the members of the various groups in the UK, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and SA for all their hard work and continued support and dedication. Our combined efforts and help are proving to be beyond measurable value to the vulnerable elderly, disadvantaged youths and vulnerable children with special needs in communities in Zimbabwe. We continue to seek donations from the corporate world and from the public.
