## **Lancaster Health and Medical Museum Collection Report 1st April, 2021 – 31st March, 2022**

The Charity has continued to operate under the Covid restrictions and as such its activities have been limited. However those activities that have happened are detailed below:

1. The Trustees have met Christine Chadwick (Heritage Consultant) twice (once virtually and once face-to-face) since the last AGM. She produced an Interim Report and has advised that we should: A. Assess the collection and redefine the catalogue making it more easily accessible. B. Have public engagement (especially local schools. Christine Chadwick has agreed to continue working with the Trustees.

2. a. The following donations have be made to the collection: Bronze Roman Surgical Instruments (from Alan Willis), Pneumonectomy Boxes, Examination Couch, Travelling Medicine Kit, Box of Surgical Instruments, Drug Weighing Scales, Smallpox Vaccination Kit (all from Dr J Carne).

b. The Chair took part in the Lancaster Health Festival (Health History Trail) and the Heritage Open Weekend. Both events took place in September 2021 and it is planned to involve the LHMMC again in 2022.

c. The Chair and Trustees would like to re-engage the UHMBFT Board and the Head of the Medical School in the LHMMC.

d. The Chair is taking part in a History of Medicine event at UCLan in April. He will be lecturing on “masks”.

e. The Chair is involved in the planned events to celebrate the Bicentenary of the Lancaster Medical Book Club in 2023.
