|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | This was the fourth full year of the Wolverley Memorial Charitable Trust and the second “normal” year after the lifting of Pandemic restrictions The number of regular hirers and “one-off” private hires for parties and other events continued to increase. One of the most significant achievements in the year was the continued development of the Community Café, extending the opening hours and the range of services provided, with the aim of establishing the Café as a community hub. A well-attended “Carols at the Hall” concert was held for the first year. This will now be an annual event The Charity was successful in obtaining a “Warm Space” grant allowing the Community Café to provide affordable food and refreshments during the Winter Period to help people with the cost of living crisis and prevent isolation. The Charity also joined the national “Chatty Café” scheme and entered into a partnership agreement with the local Allotment Society. |
2
The Charity started the process to lease the vacant Pavilion on the site, returned after temporary use by the Wolverley Lawn Tennis Club, by seeking expressions of interest from local groups. A structural survey and valuation was obtained. The Charity entered into discussions to agree a lease arrangement with the newly formed Wolverley Tennis Charitable Incorporated Organisation for its use of part of the land owned by the Wolverley Memorial Charitable Trust under a long lease from the Parish Council.
