Haverhill Lions Club (CIO) Charity no.(1183869)
- Annual Trustees Report 2020 2021
The objective of Haverhill Lions Club is to provide help and service to our local community.
One of the key ways in which we help is by contributing donations to local individuals, groups and organisations for their own community based fundraising projects. We are able to do this by our own fundraising throughout the year.
The main basis of our fundraising activities is essentially derived from three sources. Running BBQ’s at organised summer events and private functions. We also raise income by providing train rides on our own bespoke ‘Thomas’ train and carriages at organised events. Finally, for a number of years we have created and manage a very popular Santa’s Grotto at Christmas time which attracts upwards of 1000 visitors.
Unfortunately, as a result of the global Covid pandemic continued activities during this annual period came to a very abrupt halt when the UK lockdown came into operation on March 23[rd ] 2020 and continued intermittently through 2021. During this time we were unable to achieve any charitable income.
Despite this however, we still managed to donate to several different organisations :
-
Coupals Junior School - contribution to help buy specific educational books needed.
-
Sturmer Parish Council – donation to help buy a defibrillator for their community hall.
-
Become Charity Trust – donation to help children in care.
-
Cancer Research UK – donation to aid this valuable research.
Needless to say, 2020-2021 has been an extremely challenging year for everyone, during which our fundraising activities have ceased completely. Hopefully, as time passes, we will be able to continue supporting the local community in a variety of ways by our return to fundraising, allowing us to provide much needed funds for their projects.
