Lichfield Re:Cycle CIO Registered Charity Number 1183840

Annual Report for the year to 31 December 2024

2

Trustees’ Annual Report

Lichfield Re:Cycle is a bicycle recycling and confidence building charity working across the Lichfield District.

The trustees who served during the year and to the date of authorisation of the financial accounts were:

James Flintham (Secretary) Ed Strain (Treasurer) Simon Miller

Alan Richardson

Diane Harrison

Brett Jones Philip Pendlebury Trevor Hill Ian Covey

Our focus remains to provide free long term loan bicycles from our base at Curborough Community Centre. Our volunteers meet weekly year-round and work on donated bikes. Examples of the sort of reasons people have become beneficiaries of our charity include, cycling to work, to improve their mental or physical wellbeing, to replace bikes that have been stolen, to try cycling for the first time, for transport and for fun!

We made successful grant applications and received sponsorship to enable this work and would like to thank National Lottery Community Fund, Lichfield City Council and Sparkle 18 for their support.

We would like to thank all who took part in our fundraising Sportive who made a donation to take part which has greatly helped our Charity this year.

A video of the Sportive can be watched here:

Treasurer’s Report

These accounts cover the fifth full financial period of the CIO. Bank balance at the end of the year was £4386.80 . This is £2467.07 higher than the opening balance of our Community Directplus account which was opened in April 2024. The balance of the Credit Union was transferred into the new account, leaving £1 so that it stays active.

This year, the Ride Lichfield Sportive in June (£2500) makes up the largest source of income (43%), with grants of £2000 from National Lottery Community Fund via Support Staffordshire and £450 from Lichfield City Council (40%) and £1020 from bike sales (17%) making up the rest. Reserves are healthy, with more than 15 months of operating costs in the account. A huge thank you to Ian Covey and the LeJog Sisters for helping us to put on such a successful and profitable Sportive event!

With very many thanks

Lichfield Re:Cycle is entirely run by volunteers. In addition to the trustees named above, we would like to thank those who have given their time this year to help with our workshop sessions or by volunteering from home:

Tony, John M, Ian, Alan, Tony, Paul, Paige, John H, Daniel and Nick.

We are grateful for the support from various organisations and businesses including:

Secura Labels, Curborough Community Association, Bromford Housing, White Lodge Promotions, 50by50, Embrace Video, Support Staffordshire.

Finally, many thanks to the hundreds of people who have donated bicycles and parts to us this year and to the thousands of people who have liked and shared our information on social media or by word of mouth.
