ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 2021-22
REPORT FROM THE CHAIR
It's been another very strange year but gradually we have felt able to return to some normality after a long period of interruption by the Corona virus pandemic.
For the first time in the hall's history we were forced to hold our AGM in 2021 via a Zoom call. This did keep us together and I would like to thank Rachel Tucker for setting it up. We met again via Zoom in May but were really pleased that a lifting of restrictions meant that we were able to meet in the Garden Room in June.
ln July were so pleased to hold our first fund-raising event since pre-pandemic times. Our walking treasure hunt was clearly a huge success, not just financially but also socially, bringing the community together again. lt was wonderful to see so many people enjoying each other's company, safely outside, after such a long time with many living in isolation. lt was good for the hall, good for the community and lifted everyone's spirits.
In September, we were able to enjoy another successful event- our Autumn Supper. This united us all again and I would like to thank the Committee for all their hard work, alongside the church members who prepared so many lovely things to eat. In October, we held another of our popular Beetle Drives and in November, a Big Breakfast on a miserably wet day, but very much appreciated by those who attended, especially the volunteers who had been busy putting the Christmas lights up in the Village.
Well done and thank you. Our Christmas event on 4th December was another success. We have been very fortunate to receive some very generous monetary donations.
Hall hire has increased and we have welcomed new users to the hall. lt's great to see the hall being enjoyed by so many. Last, but not least, it’s been a joy to host our annual Pantomime in February which engages brilliantly with youngsters in Uffculme.
Our priority over this financial year has been to steady the ship and allow everyone to enjoy the facilities offered by the Village Hall. No major works were undertaken, mainly due to the uncertainties caused by the Corona virus. We have been able to accrue some monies towards much needed refurbishments to the WCs which will take place in 2023.
Overall we are still working hard to ensure that the Village Hall remains an attractive and useful benefit to the local community in Uffculme.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Sally Hickmott for taking on the responsibility of the hall's finances and for keeping the cogs turning.
My thanks to all the committee members for their continued loyal support. We're a small but keen band of hard-working supporters of the hall.
Thank you all! Yvette Cottrell, Chairman
