## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|Women In Revolt! Art and Activism in the UK
1970-1990 Tate Britain. Usurp Artists were very
proud to participate in this exhibition. The first of
its kind, this exhibition is a wide-ranging
exploration of feminist art by over 100 women
artists working in the UK. It shines a spotlight on
how networks of women used radical ideas and
rebellious methods to make an invaluable
contribution to British culture. Their art helped
fuel the women’s liberation movement during a
period of significant social, economic and political
change. Participating at the Northern Lights
Festival Belfast. SARC was established in 2004
as the Sonic Arts Research Centre at Queen’s
University Belfast facilitating for the creation of a
unique physical and intellectual resource
focusing on the intersection between music,
technology, sound and society. This performance
enabled our artists to perform, interact with the
audience share instruments and technologies for
them to perform with together. As a key partner
for “Disruptive Frequencies” research project
based at the University of Greenwich and the
record label, Non-Classical, we continued to
explore “Black and South Asian artists, the least
represented within the genre of experimental
sound. Our research seeks to tackle this lack of
representation, raising the profile of diverse
practices, highlighting potentials in pushing
increased diversity, with interviews and focus
groups. The research unpacks how these unique
experiences are situated in relation to the
structural and cultural contexts of experimental
sound in the UK. Some of the outcomes of this
research culminated in a series of live
performances at Kings Place in 2024, together
with talks and discussions with thepublic and|

vinyl record release. We were proud to be invited and participate as Judges for the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards for the Sound Art sections. Collaboration with Shakti Pride and Inspirate, showcasing the vibrancy of South Asian Queer identity and artistic expression, this unique festival was a safe, healing and inclusive space where South Asian Queer artists freely express their sense of self, their imagination and creativity through their art form. South Asian Queer Pride 2024 is a multi art form event, including dance, music, poetry, cabaret, burlesque and visual arts, and will feature both emerging and established South Asian Queer artists. South Asian Queer Pride 2024 was a multi art form event, including dance, music, poetry, cabaret, burlesque and visual arts. Our involvement with the Ivor Academy Awards, Autograph, Sound and Music, Impressions Gallery UK, PRS Oram awards, Iklectik Arts, Chinabot / Decale, arts organisations and advisors continued and expanded with online and in person exhibitions, talks and meetings with new venues such as the ICA. These ongoing relationships help to develop capacity and knowledge to open up services and skills to benefit communities. Our online one to one training and mentoring, supporting older artists with project proposal writing, grant and practical advice and evaluations, enabled people to plan and create projects for the benefit of the public. The cost of living, austerity and the repercussions of the pandemic is still taking its toll on some of the most vulnerable and we continue to support with practical advice and social care guidance, which is something we will be looking at to incorporate for future years. We continue to consolidate our achievements and plan for future projects, long-term legacy and building beyond scarcity.
