Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The eight concerts outlined above show our commitment to
providing high quality music performances for the enjoyment
and educational enrichment of local audiences.
The first four and last of the eight concerts were held at St
Barnabas’ Church, Linslade Leighton Buzzard, as our usual
venue, ,LB Library Theatre was unavailable because of
Covid restrictions. However, we were able to resume at the
Library Theate in January, 2022. This is run by Central Beds
Council, and by using it again we give important support to
a valuable local facility.
Because of understandable caution shown by people about
returning to large gatherings, our audiences showed a drop
compared with our last full season. However, we were quite
pleased that we achieved an average attendance of 66.6
per concert and we fully expect this to increase to more
normal numbers next season beginning in September.
We make every effort to make our concerts affordable by
offering a discount of £1.50 per ticket to associate members
for a modest subscription of £10.
In addition we offer FREE entry to young people under 17.
To encourage music making by young people we make an
annual award to outstanding students at the Leighton-
Linslade Music Centre, held on Saturday mornings at
Vandyke Upper School. The centre is run by Central Beds.
Council's music service “Inspiring Music “. This award had
to be suspended for two years, but we are very pleased to
resume it this year; it will be presented at the end of this
term.
The wide variety of music and composers, including several
contemporary composers presented in our programmes
demonstrates our commitment to widening the musical
experience of our audiences.
