Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main Since the whole country has been in a state of lock-down because of the achievements of the charity Covid-19 pandemic, it will be no surprise that, sadly, we have to report during the year that all our planned activities from April 2020 to April 2021 have had to be cancelled. The first casualty of the pandemic was the organ and piano recital by Iain Farrington that should have been given on 18 April 2020 in St Barnabas’ Church. This was to have been the final concert of our 2019/20 season. We are still trying to rearrange this event when the church becomes available again. Of the eight professional concerts planned for the lost 2020/21 season, we have been able to postpone and reschedule six of them, to be presented between September 2021 and April 2022. At the time of writing, however, the restarting of our concert season is still dependent on our venue, Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre, making the decision to reopen, and if so under what conditions of Covid safety for our musicians, theatre staff and our audience. The theatre is awaiting Government guidelines on reopening, due later this month (July ’21) The artists we are hoping to present are: Amy Roberts, oboe and Gamal Khamis, piano (18 September; Leo Popplewell, cello and Antonina Suhanova, piano, (9 October); Vienna Mozart Trio (23 October); Laura Snowden, guitar (20 November); Florian Mitrea, piano (8 January ’22); Abel Puustinen, violin and Olli Tanner, piano (19 February); Antonina Suhanova, piano (26 March); Blackweir Brass Quintet,(30 April)
